it's been ALMOST 1 year...
since my 10 y/o was diagnosed...we have his quarterly appt this afternoon and I am anxious to see what changes they have in store - is numbers have been wonky for about 2 weeks and I suspect the honeymoon is ending! We do love his doctor and I think we are ready to discuss a pump.
I wonder if I'll ever feel comfortable letting him sleep over at someone else's house other than my mom's ever again - makes me very sad that he has to deal with this...Tho' I have to say he's a trooper - it's just that we were at the point of drop off and wave bye and now we're back to square one with giving him independence (he's a little scatterbrained - bless his heart!) Yes, he will be able to do sleep overs. Explain to him the importance of taking control. Supervise him as he does carb counting, insulin calculations and drawing of shot on his own. When you both are confident that he can do it on his own, he is ready. You are always a phone call away. Good luck....
