Default Data Entry a PITA

I find the entry of data to the GB app on my iPhone to be painful.

For instance, I often want to enter 3 things that happen almost simultaneously: a BG reading, bolus and carbs. I want to enter all my pre-breakfast stuff at noon when I take the time to do it.

I have to enter the time 3 separate times for the 3 things that all occurred within minutes of each other.

Another for iinstance: I only use one kind of insulin, but every time I enter my med, I have to select the the type of insulin. Same with food. I only record carbs yet every time I have to select the food type.

I find this tedious and tend to want to skip data entry because it's a PITA.

Can you help make this easier?

Welcome to the Forum!

I have been using the GB App for several years. The logging of the information has become second nature to me. It does get easier after you use it for a while. Coming from pen and paper, I found the GB App to be a big step up.

Hmm. Thanks for your reply.

Since I'm -not- coming from pen and paper, this answer doesn't really help me much. I've been using Glooko app with the cable to download data from my OneTouch UltraLink. It's data entry is much smarter in that far fewer keystrokes are require to enter data (even if the BG reading were not downloaded from the meter).

The Glooko program has its limitations as well so that's why I'm looking into Glucose Buddy. The first thing I notice is how painful it is to enter data. I'm finding it difficult to get past this to find out if the reports worth it.

I'm hoping someone will tell me there's a trick that I'm missing. Do I really have to enter the date three times for a combination of things that happen 4-5 times every day?

Bob;

Sorry that I can't help. Why are you not still using the other app, if it is so much better? There is no trick other than the fact that you can enter BG, Food and Meds, all at one time per each event. If the app does not perform to your standards there's always pen and paper!

The reason I am considering other data logging options is that the charting leaves a bit to be desired. It is not perfect. I'm looking for something better. I mentioned this in my previous message.

I don't understand how to enter all at one time. This is my question. How do you do this?

Bob;

Now I understand your question.

You can put all the information, associated with one meal or event, into the app at once; ie Event, Date and Time, BG, M, F @ carbs - food if you had it; then hit save.

For Example:

Event, Date, Time, BG, M, F;
Before Breakfast Mar 26, 2013 8:00am 99 (mg/dl)
After Breakfast Mar 26, 2013 8:00am 4 (units)
Breakfast Mar 26, 2013 8:00am 35 (carbs)

Save - This creates three (3) logs

Note that the date and time are held at the same for each entry. You only have to change it once, if you are going to input the data at a later time.

It looked better on the screen, prior to the post. It is not WYSIWYG!
