Unhappy New to diabetes

Hey i'm new to this site, and new to diabetes type 2, i was rushed to hospital this passed weekend 8/21/2011 not knowing i even had this, i had very bad pains in my chest, made my breathing shallow, i was admitted, and then all test were done, i'm still in shock, they found i'm a diabetic my AIC was 10 and Blood sugar was 300 also i have very high blood pressure, and high colestrol, i was not feeling to good at all. This is very over whelming, i'm scared cos now i have to change my lifestyle eating habbits The hospital is teaching me what i need to do, i'm on so many meds right now, i went from never being sick for years, to this, think the pain in my chest was a wake up call. The hospital says they think i had diabetes for a year and did not know, yes i knew i was thirsty also, but i thought it was cos of the heat, and yes very tired all the time, i never go to Dr unless i really needed to, but i wish i had. I'm worried on what to eat, very worried right now.

I think this all very overwhelming at first, but can start to get much easier. Just was in hospital for ten days, now have to take insulin 4 x a day, so far so good. Good luck to you, keep it as simple as possible

Hello everyone! I have been managing my diabetes with exercise and diet for 5 years and suddenly my sugar jumped to 384. My levels are still really high and I hope my meds kick in soon. I am so scared and tired and I could use some support.

Hi. Sorry to hear the diet and exercise stopped being affective. But welcome to the site.

My doc put me on insulin today to get my bg levels down. That first shot was daunting, let's hope it works.
