Question What's going on with me?

Hello.
Newly diagnosed Type2 Diabetic as of November 2009.
I've been on Metformin HCL 2000mg for a few months now.

Recently (past week or two) I've been EXTREMELY tired and having an excess of hunger - - all I want to do is sit on the couch & eat. I know I need to exercise, but I have noo energy to even pick myself up.

Is this related to diabetes? Maybe I need a med change?

Oh, along with this, my #s have been higher than normal, although still under 200.

Any advice?

Do you have excessive thirst and urination to go along with the hunger? If so consult your doctor ASAP.

You didn't say how many times a day that you test your blood sugar, but since you know that your numbers are under 200, then I assume that you do test. The tired feeling is most-likely attributed to high blood sugar, as the heart must work harder to pump the thick blood. Eating on top of this only adds to the problem. If you will get your highs below 140 mg/dl and your average blood sugar around 100 mg/dl you will feel much better. Most of the time this is a life style change and is totally up to you, as it requires an effort on your part. You may just need a medicine change to help you accomplish the lower blood sugar and you should talk with your doctor about this as well. I hope this helps in some way!

Having high blood sugar can make you feel hungry. Sometimes when I am hungry but I know I shouldn't be b/c I ate not too long ago, I will test my blood sugar and it will be high. Then I know not to eat. I will try to drink more water and take a walk.

Or maybe you are getting sick or depressed?
