Default Lantus and Medicare Part D

I use 100 units of lantus at bedtime, which means I go through 3 10ml vials each month. At the first of the year I was paying a flat co-pay of $40. Then I was dropped into a coverage gap for my prescription drugs and my copayment went up to $110 each month, for only 3 bottles. I went to their website to see about a saving card, but was ineligible because of my Medicare. My dr told me to call the pharmaceutical company and talk to someone as some will cover while you are in the coverage gap. One form filled out by both me and my doc, faxed back to the company and I am covered 100% for lantus. All I have to do is reapply every year and I will never have a co-pay. The name of th e pharmaceutical company is Sanofi. I had to find the patient connection by starting in the lantus website and searching for a link to Sanofi. Hope this helps some that can't really afford their lantus.
