Hey y'all! I hope everyone is doing well. I was just diagnosed with diabetes (type 2) yesterday with my fasting blood sugar at 376. Before I went to sleep, I tested it again and it's at 420. I woke up in the middle of the night to use the restroom and it's 432. Le sigh.
How do I get it to go down? I need it to go down! I'm following pretty much the no carb thing. How fast can I expect this to go down? I'm really concerned. My father said if it is higher than 376 in the morning he is taking me to the ER. What would they even be able to go there? Right now, I'm on fast acting insulin before meals and then I take a basal one at night. |

So did your sugar go down any since you last posted? Have you changed your diet? If so how? Initially I would eliminate ALL sugars - even fruit - until it it's down to your doctor's recommended level and more manageable. That is just what I have done with fastgood results. You have to do what works best for you based on your doctor's advice.

Mine was pretty much around 285 mark when I fasted... At first I just couldn't cut all the sugars out of my life. If you try to you are doomed to fail. I slowly cut back, exercised more and learned to eat more healthy. To say cut out all sugar is just dumb. Almost everything has sugar in it. ... If you drink sugary sodas/fruit juices/ or energy drinks try to alow yourself just one a day. Until you can completely cut it out all the way, drink water the rest of the time. Eat a sensible breakfast, and lunch and dinner.. If you get hungry in between those snack on some fruit or a few saltines... You will see your sugar levels drops over time.. It's not going to be an over night deal! I started eating healthy taking my meds correctly about 2 1/2 weeks ago and now my bs is steadily under 102 in am and about 112 after dinner
