Default Statins

I was recently diagnosed with Type 2. As part of treatment I was put on Simvastatin (Zocor). I am now experiencing severe muscle pain. I then read up on it and found out that this can be a side effect of statins. I stopped taking it a few days ago but I still ache like I've been hit by a bus.
Has anyone experienced this?
How long do the side effects take to wear off?

One of the side effects is muscle pain. It is probably good that you have stopped taking it, but you really should talk with your doctor about this.

Avoid Statins, stop eating all bread, pasta, wheat products, potatoes and rice.
Eat around 3-4oz protein a day, enough animal fats to sate your appetite. Eat plenty of leafy vegetables, tomatoes, peppers etc. only eat a few berries and avoid fruit juices and you'll sort out your cholesterol and type II blood sugar problems, loose weight and feel lest hungry and generally great.
I've refused Statins for years and despite a cholesterol reading of 4.4, my stupid doctors (like all drug-company duped saps), still recommend that I take statins- what the hell for?

The reasoning that I have been given is that diabetics are recommended to take statins is that they also protect the kidneys. My LDL and HDL levels were good but my doc wants me on them anyway.
I stopped taking the Simvastatin and the pains went away. I was then prescribed Lovastatin and the same pains came back after two days. I've told my doc that I do not want to try another statin. I'll take the risks.
