Default Atkins, South Beach

Does anyone have any experience with either one of these diets. Are they a good way to control blood sugar?

If I remember correctly, the Atkins (South Beach) diet is pretty much a high protein / low carb diet and can end up in a form of ketosis. This type of diet can be harmful. Just learn to count the carbs and be careful.

The atkins is not high carb, but low carb high fat and protein. If you need to loose weight it will help with that very well along with moderate exercise. I personally would not recomend the atkins diet for life but a paleo style diet. I personally like Diet Evolution.

I'm not sure about south beach.

Default South Beach

South Beach is low carb/ more low fat. I lost 70 lbs on it and have been controlling my blood sugar (last A1C was 5.4) without meds by following it. I think you can live on SB better than Atkins since Atkins totally cuts out carbs. South Beach, after the first 2 weeks, allows carbs (low glycemic) back into your diet. I highly recommend it. Try it and see if it works for you.

Look at Power Protein. Keeps carbs under 100 in the intervention stage. Things like potatoes just have to become history Become a label reader in buying bread, cereal, juices etc. Of course, nothing can have sugar or fructose.

Default I know this post it old but....

If you really read the Atkins book you will see that after 2 weeks (like SB) you add more (notice the more) low carb veggies. Which means salads, greens, non starchy veggies. It is never no carb. And ketosis is not ketoacidosis.
