I am not understanding exactly what you mean here. An A1c of 8.5% equates to an average blood sugar of 197 mg/dl. If you are not seeing this type of reading during the day, try taking some readings during the night.

If you are seeing the same A1c each time that you have the lab test run, then your blood sugars reading should have told you this over the last three months, since the majority of them should average ~200 mg/dl. If this is the case, then I urge you to seek an average blood sugar reading of less than 140 mg/dl ( ie an A1c of less than 6.5%).
