Hi, ckohrman!

It will probably take several weeks to get your blood sugar levels down to where you want them. I know from experience that it can be frustrating, and feel like things are out of control, when you think you're doing things right but your numbers are still high.

It took me about 6 weeks to get to a point where my blood sugar levels are stable. Before that, it seemed like any little thing, like a handful of blueberries in my morning oatmeal, or a piece of pizza, would send my numbers skyrocketing. But I've found that the lower and more stable my numbers are, the smaller the effect of some extra carbs, and the quicker my blood sugar gets back down.

Eat well, count and limit your carbs, get as many of the carbs you do eat from whole grains and unprocessed foods, and if you're not on an exercise program, get as much regular exercise as you can. I started by walking 45 minutes at lunchtime, and it helped me lose weight, and helped lower my blood sugar levels.
