You need to do some research on the net. There is a lot of information out there. I did that and found what is working for me and you will need to do the same thing. Im 46 and was just told I had diabetes on 2/3/12. My fasting number was 204 for BG at the doctors office.

I have decided that I wanted to see if I can get it under control with diet and excerize before doing meds.

The key seems to be reducing your carb intake and getting more active based on the information. I dont want to oversimplify it so start reading and finding what may work for you.

I can tell you that my numbers have already improved. For example I took an after dinner BG last night and it was 106. This morning out of bed I was 143.

I have drastically cut carbs to less that 60 grams per day and I walk 3 miles everyday. I plan out every meal and avoid carbs as much as I can. I have noticed that my energy is improving and while the change in what I eat is difficult it is worth feeling better.

So read ,read and read some more.
