I've been T1 diabetic for 6.5 years diagnoses when I was 20 - during the first year of being married to an amazing guy. At first I was on a pen then about one year later I got on a pump. My Hubby is so great at reminding me to test and retrieving my tester for me. You'd think after 6 years of three+ meals a day one would just remember.

Anyways, sometimes it's tough but I am thanking God daily that I am living during these times rather than 20 or 30 years ago when they knew squat about T1.

I've been pregnant twice and delivered two very healthy, beautiful an active baby boys. Both pregnancies were similar. I had very tight control and saw my Endo. every month. But I have the diabetes whereas your wife does not.

I'm sorry your future in-laws are being difficult. That is so not cool! Diabetes is so manageable but I would recommend dishing out the dough to see a doc at least twice a year (min once). I have insurance and I still pay $170 biweekly - through my work ( so that means they pay a biggger chunk). So save up for a bit and use that money to see a doc about your diabetes. It's very important to have a doc on it side. They are in the know!

Congratulations on getting married by the way! Don't listen to your in-laws. They are not doing the best for they daughter. They are probably scared of what they hear about T1 diabetics in the movies and media. Help them and most importantly your fiancé see that u intend to have good control and that you'll do everything in your power to grow old with her and be the one that will care for her when your both old and wrinkly.
