Hi Eppie,
I also have gestational diabetes... When I met w/my nutritionist they told me to stay away from anything white--i.e white bread, white rice, flour, starchy food. Whole wheat or multigrain is good but each brand has different servings amounts, sugar/serving, and carbs/serving. What you want to look for when you shop is the "Total Carbs %." Depending on how much Total Carbs you can have per meal, you will be able to breakdown how much you can eat. I'm limited to fruits only during snack time and usually w/a serving of protein. For breakfast I'll have a single serving of Sara Lee 100% Classic Wheat toast, w/Oscar Mayer Deli Fresh Smoked Turkey Breast (5 slices), sprinkle of Kraft 2% 4 Cheese, 1 tsp of mayo, a cup of Lipton Natural Lemon Tea w/1 Splenda packet. For a snack I'll have string cheese and 17 small red grapes

Also, walking after every meal really helps me bring my blood sugar level down. Once you see your nutritionist you'll have a better idea of what to eat, how much, and when. It's a little frustrating and confusing right now but it'll get better!

Also, Kraft has a Diabetes center filled w/recipes from breakfast to desserts! Check it out:
