The low carb is the way to go for some people, you just have to do what works for you. Counting carbs is a must for people with diabetes, especially Type 1. If you haven't done so yet, find a great doctor (preferably an Endocrinologist) and have them calculate your ISF (Insulin Sensitivity Factor) and ICR (Insulin to Carb "Coverage" Ratio). Training on how to calculate the insulin injection and carb counting is a must. You may also want to look into a pump, since these ratios are included in the pump memory and all you have to do is dial up your carbs after each meal. Test Often and good luck with your control and management.
