Welcome to the forum! I was diagnosed back in Febraury of this year with type 2 at the age of 33. I am 5'10" and was 244 pounds at the time of diagnosis. I was not feeling well either. My starting A1c was 10 (245) to give you an idea of what shape I was in regarding my blood glucose. Today I saw the Dr and I weigh 203 and my A1c is 5.6 (108). I have been on 500 mg of metformin since my above diagosis and with proper diet, excercise, and for most weight loss, you may be able to come off the meds. As of today, I will began taking my meds once a day versus twice a day and the goal is to be off the meds totally. The meds help me lose 41 pounds along with diet. Good Luck and just set that as your goal. You are younger than me, so its very achievable
