I felt the same way when I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes 3 years ago... Up until that point I was very healthy. My lifestyle is very busy and I have many times forgotten to check my bg but now I am in process of getting dexcom's 4g continuous glucose monitor that will help me stay on top of my levels during my hectic schedule. It doesn't take place of your reg monitor but I think it is going to be a big plus in keeping my diabetes under control. Maybe this is something you can look at to give you a little more freedom if you don't want to get on the pump!
I am very excited about this for myself and it has changed my outlook!!
