I feel for you, Sandy, I've definitely had days where I just want to "forget" I have diabetes. I think it's important to have the occasional day where this happens but not weeks/months. It's okay to want to "unplug" and not deal with it all, but you don't want to cause yourself harm in doing so.

I would honestly talk to your Dr about depression. If you're finding it hard to keep to a diet, try an overeaters anonymous meeting in your area. If you aren't exercising enough alone, try to find a partner or a coach to keep you on track. Be honest about your issues accepting this disease and being overweight... I really think that the less you feel so alone in your struggle, the better your approach will be.

I know it's hard - there are absolutely NO short cuts to losing weight or managing diabetes, and it takes a lot of patience and dedication. Build up your self esteem a bit - you're 100% worth this effort and you're already taking the first steps toward accountability for your issues, that's very admirable.

good luck!
