I know it seems overwhelming but see that you are lucky to have gotten in now because of today's advances. There is much to be optimistic about. There are terrific blood glucose monitors, continuous glucose monitors, insulin pumps (I'm on one), and with support you can still have a great life. I know it is a pain but having had Type 1 for 36 years with really no complications at all I can confidently say my desire to control my blood sugars made the difference. Just take care of it, manage, and don't make it THE FOCUS OF YOUR LIFE. Ignore it however and over time....there will be a price to pay.
