Your meter is probably not wrong. However, meters can be off by 10% to 20%. You may want to do a tag search on this site for "meter discrepancy".

Try to keep your blood sugar above 70 ml/dl, since anything below that number is considered hypoglycemic. Depending on your normal everyday activity, exercise routine, carbs per meal etc. you may need to bump your carb count per meal up or your insulin down, if you are using insulin. Usually a blood sugar reading of between 100-120 is a good place to be during the day.
