I haven't seen any of these adds yet since upgrading to 3.5, but that's because I'm using it 'offline' at the moment. Until I see how invasive these adds are I can't really comment on them...

Or just update to IOS4. It's super easy, only takes about an hour. And you'll have better features for it. That's assuming you're on a 2G or higher model of ipod. Otherwise you can't upgrade to ISO4.
