Hello from Toronto
This post might be a bit premature as I just found out on Saturday that my blodd-sugar level is high (8.7-11.3) - my doc has asked me to keep a log this week 5x a day and I have a return visit with him on Sat. I'm 5'5 and 137lbs so I don't think being overweight is the cause, but both my grandparents had it and so does my mom... i guess it's hereditery :(
Anyways, i'll keep the group updated but my immediate question is relating to taking your blood/sugar level 2hrs after eating - is that 2hrs after the start of your meal, or 2hrs after the end? thx Myko |
Welcome to the Forum! :)
Diabetes is hereditery or atleast it has a lot to do with it. The blood/sugar level 2 hrs after eating; That is 2 hrs after the first bite of food. This is outlined in the T2 Sticky, Blood Sugar 101. Quote: "In subjects without diabetes, blood glucose levels typically peak approximately 1 hour after the start of a meal and return to preprandial levels within 2 to 3 hours; 2-hour postprandial blood glucose levels rarely exceed 140 mg/dL." I hope the information helps. |
