help please

I'm so confused I've had gestational diabetes with my last three pregnancies. My babe is now 8 months, and my dr told me to continue testing ever so often, because gestational makes you more likely to get type 2. So this morning upon waking I took my glucose and my sugars were 140! I read fasting should be 70-99. If this is right I'm way high! But every app is saying this is normal range. I'm so lost!

It's high.

2 fasting readings 126 or higher = somewhere in the diabetes spectrum, according to may doctor. (I got there by a 130 a year ago, and a 140 at my last physical.) Somewhere on the spectrum is what he told me - on my visit summary the diagnostic code was diabetes type 2.

140 is only normal 2 hours after eating.
Diabetes is diagnosed by any one of the following:

Two consecutive fasting blood glucose tests that are equal to or greater than 126 mg/dL
Any random blood glucose that is greater than 200 mg/dL
An A1c test that is equal to or greater than 6.5 percent. A1c is an easy blood test that gives a three month average of blood sugars
A two-hour oral glucose tolerance test with any value over 200 mg/dL

A normal fasting (no food for eight hours) blood sugar level is between 70 and 99 mg/dL
A normal blood sugar level two hours after eating is less than 140 mg/dL

(These are pretty standard numbers - I just grabbed the first site I found)

Welcome to the Forum! :)

It looks like you may be closer to that time: Normal Blood Sugar

Read through the first three threads in the Type 2 Section, when you get a chance, if you have not already done so. These threads will most-likely help you a lot. Self education is one of the keys to successful management of your diabetes, along with a healthy / sensible diet and exercise. Basically, diabetes requires a life-style change for the better. Good luck with your control and management.
