odd question

Something I've wondered about, but it's bad today. What do I do if I've taken my insulin, and lose my appetite?

Today's example. (as a note, I'm an amputee, that added to the stress of the morning.) I fell before going to work. The prosthetic made it more painful and difficult to get up. I made it in to work and took a pain pill. My boss insisted I eat, and got me a sandwich. I wasn't terribly hungry but agreed I should eat. I checked my levels, a bit high, 135, went ahead and took my insulin.

And now have NO appetite.

This has happened before. I take the insulin, it should be 5-10 minutes before I eat. I'll be hungry, ready to eat, take the insulin, and lose my appetite completely. I know I need to eat, but can't face the idea of eating.

I don't want to get too low, but what should I do when that happens? I'm glaring at the sandwich now (like THAT will help) forcing myself to try to eat.

Welcome to the forum!

Try taking your insulin after you eat, this works well for me.

If you take the insulin and don't eat a meal, you will need to graze to keep from getting low. Generally you can constantly eat very small snacks to accomplish this. Good luck with your control and management.
