New and kinda scared

Good morning, I'm newly diagnosed with boarderline diabetes. I'm a lover of food and am trying to get my head around changing my eating habits to a new lifestyle of eating. Mr. Dr. says that she will check my sugar in a month and if I'm still high I will need to start insulin. I'm really not feeling that and am afraid of having to give myself a shot every day. I know what I have to do I have a family history of multiple diabetics but I'm just not happy about it. I see a drastic life-change and i'm certain I can't do this alone.

Welcome to the Forum! :)

Read through the first three threads in the Type 2 Section, when you get a chance, if you have not already done so. These threads will most-likely help you a lot. Self education is one of the keys to successful management of your diabetes, along with a healthy / sensible diet and exercise. Basically, diabetes requires a life-style change for the better.

A diabetes diet is not about restrictions - it's how everyone should eat - lean proteins, low fat, unprocessed carbs from fruits and vegetables and plenty of exercise.

Good luck with your control and management.

I agree with all that dano said, but if your doctor is really considering insulin without even trying medication she must consider you to be more than borderline diabetic. All the more reason to change your diet the way dano suggests.
