confusing glucose levels

I have had type 2 for over 12 years and still have trouble with readings. My morning fasting readings can be high but as soon as I eat, they drop significantly. I am in my late 60's and my A1c levels have ranged from low 5's to 8 and seems to be controlled by diet when I work on it. My doctor is confused as I am. I have been on and off a very low dose of glimiperide which does not always coincide with my A1c. Has anyone had this experience or have recommendations.

Read through the first three threads in the Type 2 Section. We all have to work constantly on the exercise and carbs. You could also check into eating a small snack (a handful of almonds) before bed, sometimes this helps lower the morning numbers.

You may also want to read up on dawn phenomenon. There are several threads pertaining to dawn phenomenon on this forum, as well. Feel free to click on the "tag" located at the bottom left of your screen.
