new here but old type 2

I have been diagnosed type 2 diabetic since 11/2010. I am uncontrolled taking 2000mg Metformin, 1.2 units Victoza, and 24 units Lantus. My sugar levels are normally around 185 range for about last 4 months. On 8/17 I was 401 at 12:20p and took 15u Lantus, and at 11P it was 363 so I took another 15u Lantus. It got down to 253 by 7:30A on 8/18. On 8/18 at 11A BG was 298 so I took anot 15u Lantus. At 1:40p it was at 200, so I waited til my night dosage at 10:30p and took anothe 15u. Today 8/19 at 8A I'm at 208 and at 1P at 244. I'm already taking more than my prescribed 24U by taking 15u x2 daily. It doesn't seem to be helping much. I have seen in this forum other forms of treatment. Has anyone found a TRUE way to control their diabetes? Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the Forum! :)

Read through the first three threads in the Type 2 Section, when you get a chance, if you have not already done so. These threads will most-likely help you a lot. Self education is one of the keys to successful management of your diabetes, along with a healthy / sensible diet and exercise. Basically, diabetes requires a life-style change for the better.

Carb counting and exercise have worked the best for me. Good luck with your control and management.
