Diagnosed prediabetic. When I test my bloodsugar my blood is thick. Is that common?

Welcome to the Forum! :) Blood is not normally thick. It would be interesting to know what your blood surgar level is when you experience the thicker blood. Blood can be thick and thickens as the blood sugars rise. The blood is thickest when the blood sugars are very high, around the 600+ range. The consistency, at or near this point, is about like syrup. |
Ouch! Thanks

I had not heard about bg vs blood thickness but I do know my father has a thick blood type... not sure what letter it is but know it has "CD" at the end. Its very rare and he's registered so if he or others need blood they can find these people. He takes asprin and caffinated tea to help as well as drinking lots of water. He does not have diabetes.

Very interesting! I had never heard of thick blood before.

Thicker, dark and slower flowing blood usually points to inadequate hydration levels. Using urine color as a guide can help you watch your hydration level - you should aim for yellowish & not dark yellow. It's easier to follow the 8 c a day guide (or 4 500ml bottles). Good hydration helps your body work properly! :)
