I was diagnosed w type 1 a month ago and I'm just getting started a few weeks ago and my Bg levels jump up and down dramatically. What am I doing wrong?

You are not doing any thing wrong, but you are most-likely experiencing the Honeymoon Phase Period. Do a Google search to find out more. During this time you may need to adjust your insulin accordingly and you should contact your doctor for advice in doing so. Once the "Honeymoon Phase" subsides, your levels should stabilize.

You aren't doing anything wrong! Are you on insulin yet? If so, what kind? I was diagnosed a little over 2 years ago but I've only been on insulin for about 7 months. I am very sensitive to it so even little doses ( maybe 2/3 units) can send my numbers all over especially depending what I have eaten and what kind of exercises I have done that day... Stay positive and ask a lot of questions!! No 2 diabetics are the same so what works for me may not work for you but talking and asking is a great start :)

I'm on novolog and lantus. I go anywhere from the mid 80s to the 400s. I'm just a little concerned

Test often and use the "rule of 15" for lows. Good luck. ;)

What's the rule of 15?

Click on the link and the tags at the bottom of the thread. :)

Basically, it is eat 15 carbs and test after 15 minutes to combat hypo's. One of the worst ways to treat a hypo is to over eat.

What is that is still making me hungry alot?

Are you keeping a food journal to track what you eat and where your BG is after? If you aren't, I would suggest it- I find it very helpful- foods affect people differently so some foods might make you spike into that 400 range- such as rice, white flour foods and high sugar things like ice cream and cakes-
