Diabetes 1.5

Hello.. I am Eudora1957 and I am new. I was diagnosed with diabetes about 11 years ago and was told that I was Type 2. I was put on meds even tho my highest glucose reading was about 129...Thru the years I have been on various meds and after seeing the Ad on t.v. about Actos, asked the Dr. to take me off it. He did and said I didnt need any meds as my A1/C was around 6.1 for the past year. Then my foot doctor, No problem with feet because of diabetes, but other problems, recommended that I see a endrocronoligist. After blood work, he said I was a type 1.5 diabetic and put me on Onglyza. At their lab, my A1/c was 6.8 but back at my internist office, it was 6.1... go figure....I really dont understand but seems because most of my relatives who have diabetes are type 1, my genes are indicating that I am type 1 but my pancreas is still making plenty of insulin. But it could go the other way... however, since I was diagnosed 11 years ago, my pancreas has never given up....so perhaps I am a freak of nature...

Welcome to the Forum! :)

I am Type 1.5 as well. I hope that you are able to stay off the insulin, I was not so lucky. Good luck with your control and management.
