1/2 marathons when diabetic

How do you regulate your sugars if you are running / jogging long distances?

That should the glucose levels be before exercise and what should you do afterwards to stop going low?

I don't take insulin the night b 4 a long run. I will be at about 150 in the morn. During the run I eat 2 glucose tablets every 20 mi.

I am a type 1 diabetic using a pump. I ran a half marathon back in November and tried many different things before finding what works for me. Every diabetic is different and what works for me might not work for you. I found exercising in the morning increases my bloodsugar not decrease so the morning was the best time to run. I carried a camel back full of water, food, and my tester. I would check every 2 miles and eat/take insulin as needed. I found sports beans to be the easiest and tastiest way to keep sugars up. They had electrolytes to help keep me from getting dehydrated too. I needed more sports beans when running at night because my sugars would drop more in the evening. Hope this helps.
