Honeymoon phase question.

My 11 year old son was diagnosed with Type 1 six weeks ago... We have apparently just hit the honeymoon phase this weekend. He was having lows in the 40's all weekend. We have to adjust novolog and levemir. Called our Dr on call today.
How long does this last? We are excited and thinking wouldn't it be great if it stayed this way? He has not used the fast acting novolog all day today and stayed in the 120's. The best range he has been in since diagnosed. We have been running in 400's down to high 100's until now.

The "honeymoon phase" has been know to last up to a year or more. Normally it lasts for a few months. You will be able to tell when it is over, as the body no longer is producing insulin.

Thank you for your response.
I am really uncomfortable with this phase... We do not a clear set schedule as to when to give the fast acting insulin...

You are welcome. :)

The "honeymoon phase" is something that you have to play by ear and trust in your meter. Test often, I wish you and your son the best.
