Your liver excretes glucose while you sleep. That is also the reason why you don't get hungry during the hours that you sleep.

Thanks for asking that, I've had the same question. Thanks for the answers given.

I've been frustrated with my morning levels, they seem to be creeping up over time, and I haven't done anything different.
110-120 hasn't been unusual for that morning reading before breakfast. It hasn't been below 100 fasting, for longer than I can remember...months at least. Yesterday I had my 3 month checkup. Bearing in mind the creeping upward numbers I'm getting...my A1c was DOWN! 5.9, compared to 6.1 three months ago. My doctor thinks I must be doing something right...I just don't know what it is. I'll try to start testing when I first get up in the morning, and then later on when I get to work and get ready to eat breakfast. (that first thing one will be hard. I'm an amputee, and have to get the foot on before going to the bathroom. I don't always have a lot of time before I HAVE to get in there.) Example, yesterday before breakfast was 130. Before lunch was 113. 2 1/2 hours later at the doctor's office it was 106. 2 1/2 hours later, before dinner, it was 99. |

My fasting sugar was in the 140 to 160. I am experimenting with drinking V8 before bed. 8oz contains 10g carbs. This morning was 115. This might be the answer but I am going to continue to ensure that it is consistent daily. I'll reply back to let all know of my results.
