Hello Fellow Glucose Buddies
I am new to this forum. I was diagnosed Type 2 on March 16th of this year. My A1C at the time of diagnosis was 6.2. Since then I have seen a dietician. Changed to a healthier diet. I take 2 long walks a day and have lost 30 pounds (from 250 to 220) since being diagnosed. I am taking Hyzaar (100 mg BP) Metformin (500 mg.) and Trilipix (135 mg.) to lower triglycerides and raise HDL).
I have found that since I started taking metformin and trilipix that the weight is coming off much faster in combination with exercise and diet. I am smarter at counting carbs too. I was 264 pounds last October, so I am down 44 pounds overall. My blood pressure has dropped from 150/110 (in October) to 125/85. I am due for my first (since diagnosis) A1C and Chol. test at the end of June. My ultimate goal is to get down to 160 pounds but right now I am taking things one day at a time. I recently started using the Glucose Buddy application on my iPhone along with CalorieTrack by HealthyCloud. They are very good tools for someone like me who likes techno gadgets. I like the convenience they offer and the fact that I can take my iPhone into the doctors office and show my Dr. my progress. I was initally planning on having Lap-Band surgery, but now I am thinking that I may be able to do this on my own. Anyway, I am hoping to drop-in occassionally and hopefully glean information from others. Thanks Ironside |
