New GB user from FL
I am a Type II diabetic, diagnosed in 1997 - recently became insulin dependent. Now my endocrinologist says that I may be a good candidate for a pump!? I have purchased the book "Pumping Insulin" (I belive it is called).
My grand father, as well as my dad was diabetics - both requiring insulin, so I am not new to the ideas of proper nutrition, but it is so different when it finally gets to YOU :( Having been born/raised in europe, it is hard to use regular websites to look up nutritional information, as I am used to metric measurements. Thanks for the forum - it seems to be a good source for "comon sense" information :) |
Welcome to the Forum! :)
Try downloading the MyNetDiary (turn on carbs in settings) and Restaurants Apps from iTunes, both are free and work very well for carb counting in the US. |
Thanks!
Unfortunately - I have a droid phone :(
Can anyone answer this? I was originally type 2 diabetic on oral meds, now I take the orals+insulin - does this change the fact I am a type 2? (should I call myself insulin dependant type 2 - or what?) |
Good question, don't know if I can answer it, but here goes. Sadly, the T2 oral meds only work for a maximum of ~10 years. Basically, your condition is most times referred to as Insulin Dependant T2.

Wow - I didn't know that the T2 orals would stop working!
Thank you, Dano :) |
