lower morning numbers?

Newly diagnosed type2.age 49 male.need to exercise and lose weight. Average blood sugars 153. Morning consistently high 135-155. Evening 120-150. Goals are 120 am and less than 180 two hours after supper. Any advice on morning sugars as they seem too high?

Thanks dano. Also any books you recommend for newbies to help get diet and exercise on right path for good health?

Recommended Diet

I started South Beach diet the day after I was diagnosed (13 Jan 11) and have lost 49 lbs since then. I didn't really start exercising until 2 weeks ago. Worked great and got me off all meds as with diet (low glycemic carbs) and exercise (just walking) I have been able to have an average BG reading of 103.

I am taking a diabetes education course right now and the nurse teaching the course said if you eat a snack before bed you will tend to have lower numbers in the morning because your liver will not overproduce sugars in the absence of carbs.
