Which type?

Hi there, my first post so hello all!
I was diagnosed earlier this month on the 10th and having read a 23.4 at my gp's (and having glucose in urine) was sent to the hospital. Straight away I was given insulin and told it's going to be part of my life now.

My question is this. How do they know I was type 1? They tested my blood glucose and keytones which were also up and then before I could go they tested my blood for acid to make sure I didn't need a stay in hospital on fluids.

From experience do we think this was adequate to make a diagnosis between the two types?

Thanks in advance. I look forward to posting more on here!

Welcome to the Forum! :) The keytones are the give a way, in my estimation.

Adam;

Maybe this link will help.

T1 is very manageable if you stay on top of it. Take the bull by the horns, so to speak. Good luck with your control and management.
