Glucose buddy shows test times as "Out of Bed" Before breakfast, after breakfast ectc. How are they defined. Eg. Is After breakfast one hour, 2 hours, three hours, etc. Before lunch: How long is that after breakfast?

Welcome to the Forum! :)

My log times are generally: Out of bed @ 6:30 AM. I use this as my Breakfast reading. Sometimes if I am feeling low I test around 10 AM and call this after breakfast. Lunch is @ Noon. Sometimes I test around 4 PM and call this after lunch. Before Dinner is @ 6 PM. Before bed is @ 10 PM.

You can pretty much call testing anything that you want. Just remember that you shouldn't have multiple after breakfast readings, for example. It's best to use just one for simplicity, whether it's one or two hours after the meal.

Read through the first three threads in the Type 2 Section, when you get a chance, if you have not already done so. These threads will most-likely help you a lot. Self education is one of the keys to successful management of your diabetes, along with a healthy / sensible diet and exercise. Basically, diabetes requires a life-style change for the better. Good luck with your control and management.

I have checked fairly religiously since I want to better understand the process of how everything works. Since June (when I was diagnosed) I have checked before each meal, two hours after I finish with each meal and then once before bed just to make sure it is not too low. Basically 7 times a day. I am also fairly OCD so that is a big reason. Doing this process and entering these scores in this app my last actual A1c score exactly matched the estimate this site gave so that seems to work fairly well.

Bottom line is they can mean whatever you want them to mean, but as Dano mentioned, consistency is the key if you want to be able to gain any value from the information.

I was always curious how long after meals to test. I asked my dr. and he said two hours after. I asked whether that means after I finish of after I start and he basically said he hadn't heard specifically. Probably doesn't matter a whole lot. From what I've seen some foods take longer to process than others anyway so there are too many variables contributing to have there be a perfect answer.

If I eat a late breakfast there may not be too much time between my after breakfast and before lunch times. Sometimes an hour or less.
