Rheumatoid Arthritis and Diabetes
 

Anyone out there with RA (besides myself) who is also diabetic? Was curious how nasty flares affect your blood sugars? Any change? Stay high?

Would be curious to know.

I have RA as well as diabetes, but I haven't been faithful in checking my sugars when I have flares.

That is a good question. Sorry I can't be of more help.

Will be interesting to see if anyone else with RA sees spikes. I think the inflammation is wearing out my pancreas and what is left of my insulin making ability is beginning to disappear. Hopefully, I'm overreacting.

I have RA and diabetes. I find my bs control is more difficult when I have flares no matter what I eat and how careful I am. It can be a bit demoralising.

I have RA - was diagnosed with it about 2 1/2 years before getting diabetes. I wonder if 2 years on prednisone helped bring on the diabetes. Fortunately,the RA is in remission, so I don't know how it would affect my blood sugar. So far I have been able to keep my A1c under 6. Both diseases are miserable. I wish you well.

I have psoriatic arthritis and type 2 diabetes. I have noticed a difference between flares and other times. Mine is much better controlled when I exercise regularly. A flare puts a damper on that. Gout attacks also get in the way of regular exercise. Interesting question. I will pay closer attention to that in the future.
