Hi from Northern VA

Hi Everyone,

I am new to the 'Glucose Buddy' family and wanted to introduce myself.

I am a 49 yr. old female who was just diagnosed with diabetes about 2 weeks ago and was so pleased to find this app and this web site when I searched on a tool at the Apple Store.

They found my high blood sugar was I was going through medical approval for knee replacement surgery (now postponed) - and since then I have been working hard to start on a good nutrition plan and am on oral meds to try and bring my sugar level under control.

My starting fasting BG # was in the mid-200's, and now a 2 weeks later it is in the mid-100's. Along with working on that, I still have 120 lbs to loose (with 80 already gone) - so meals and such are going to be quite a challenge now for me to get in the balance of carbs through the day and still have low calorie counts to keep me heading downward on the scale.

I look forward to reading and writing in the various forums here and get and give encouragement.

We can do this - so don't let things discourage you as you work toward your unique goals!

Welcome to the Forum! :)

There are several good threads in the T2 section. I think that when you get the carb count down, you will find that the calories follow suite. Good luck with the weight loss and your control & management. Remember to test often. I wish you all the best!

Tks Danny,

Yes, along with testing my BG # 4 times a day - I have been closely tracking my calories, carbs, fats, and proteins - using a website/iphone app combo from Spark People.

It is just what I needed - and the Dr. was very happy that I am taking this seriously (head on).

I know I am going to be successful!
