Byetta?
 

Anyone else using Byetta? I just started a new program with Diabetes America (recommended by a coworker of my wife), and so far so good. The totally strange (and awesome thing) is the way it shuts down my appetite. My Doc said it has a subtle effect but I don't feel like its subtle at all. I had a single (yes one) piece of pizza (whole wheat crust) the other day and was full. Anyone else experiencing this? It is an injectable pen which takes a little getting used to, but its relatively painless.

Oh and my meter readings are dropping at a healthy pace as well.

I tried the Byetta several years ago and it did not work for me. I am glad that it is working for you.

FYI have you googled this and do you know what it is? I would tell you what I call it, but I'm not gonna.... :)

I did google it, I read the pro's and cons. lots of questions for sure but for now it seems to be working.

I was on it for several months and lost 40 pounds. I thought I found my answer to weight issues, and my appetite. But over time I began to have severe abdominal pains, and had to stop using it. My Primary doctor felt it was inflaming my appendix I could not sleep at night with the pain. I feel if it is working use it to create good eating habits. My next attempt is stomach banding and we will see how that works. Type 2 can be controlled in time.

I tried Byetta a year ago and found it to be more trouble than it was worth. Yes it does stop the appetite but only for two hours. I put myself on a regimen with an hour's walk, Alli (Xenical), and insulin when needed (not very often). My last A1c was 6.0 (normal). My dietician has me on a 2000 calorie diet. What motivates me to stick to the diet is that I test at least 6 times a day. You learn real quick how much to eat and when. Get your doctor to write a prescription for the strips, it's worth it. Byetta blocks Glucogon from the Pancreas and there is a Pancreatitus side effect.

I use Byetta and it gives me nausea all the time.

I have been on Byetta now for six months and loving it. It has slowed my appetite and I have lost about 30 pounds. My A1C is below 7 and I have reduced my oral meds. So far it has been nothing but positive.

I have taken Byetta since 2007 and highly recommend it, it has changed my life! I would recommend you look at this discussion blog:

I was on Byetta for over a year. It was extremely effective at controlling my sugars, but I never got over the nausea feeling. Without fail I would vomit every morning and evening after taking the Byetta injection.

Hi i had used bayetta and i had severe nauseas n abdominal pain had to stop it. I am still using insulin but in couple wks i will be learning to use a patch instead of insilin. Excited for that because i am tired of needles.
