I HATE Diabetes!!!!!

Anyone else out there sick and tired of checking their blood sugar a thousand times a day, watching everything you eat and constantly shifting my entire life around because of being a diabetic?

Scarlett 05-10-2013 12:02 AM

I almost did this when I was diagnosed…=

Yes it's rubbish being diabetic - but the way I look at it, you need to spend 15 minutes a day to keep yourself alive and healthy. I do 4 blood tests and 5 injections a day- and when I get dejected about this, I remember how sick I was before I was diagnosed (exhausted, losing weight, thirsty all the time) and how I Googled 'unexplained weight loss' and got a scare about cancer.
Compared to that, 15 minutes a day to test, inject and count carbs is good news! Good luck

I felt the same way when I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes 3 years ago... Up until that point I was very healthy. My lifestyle is very busy and I have many times forgotten to check my bg but now I am in process of getting dexcom's 4g continuous glucose monitor that will help me stay on top of my levels during my hectic schedule. It doesn't take place of your reg monitor but I think it is going to be a big plus in keeping my diabetes under control. Maybe this is something you can look at to give you a little more freedom if you don't want to get on the pump! :) I am very excited about this for myself and it has changed my outlook!!

I hate my diabetes it's do frustrating after 6 years of having it I'm finally getting a pump. I'm hoping tht this makes my life a bit more easy and manageable. I hope it also puts less stress on my parents

stephplass 05-22-2013 08:55 PM

I love my pump, but was stoic forgetting and not wanting to check my blood. I just set timers on my machine and it is helping to remind me to test. My testing machine is quick and not painful but I also hate being diabetic 23 years since 21. When I think of people I know who died at a young age from gang green, ketoacidosis and getting amputations, it put reality and scares the heck out if me. I've had ketoacidosis and almost died, passed out and last year at a store. I don't know when I'm low and it makes it more important to check often. Maybe join a group and get support. You can live a long life just stay on top of this. This is controllable!

I can't stand it and I am going downhill with it forgetting to take insulin and testing blood sugar! Can't they find the cure already!!!!

cassie.marie 07-01-2013 06:11 AM

I just got diagnosed two weeks ago... I am almost 18 and I have been hitting some low numbers and I can't really tell if I am low or not. It happens most when I am sleeping or just waking up. And I hate checking myself even when I am with friends I have to check like every three hours and it's not fun when Ur with friends and having to stop what your doing to check blood sugars and take shots in front of them... But I do kinda swet and my body is jittery but it doesn't do that all the time. Today was 40 and my range is between 80-150 and I didn't really feel anything and I got such a bad headache but other wise when I'm low I don't usually get headaches so how can I tell when I am low??

bug2011 07-16-2013 11:12 AM

I hate it! It sucks so much having to remember to do all this and then in public no less! Being in ICU for 3 days n the Pediatrics for two sucked and everything about diabetes sucks!
Just needed to vent that thanks everyone!

fredakoroma 08-19-2013 06:43 PM

Diabetes can be so frustrating and I hate it too! But look at it this way there are worst diseases, such as cancer that some people's lives that have a due date. As for diabetics yes, I know we have to do all that crap, but that's what keeps us alive! Don't worry sooner or later someone will find a cure :)

jsmith3055 10-14-2013 05:06 PM

Yes, diabetes is a constant responsibility to stay alive and healthy, but have to do these things, or suffer the alternative!! It helps to STOP resisting what IS and use that energy to stay healthy!!!

I understand what everybody is trying to say. Diabetes Type 1 is not the most easiest thing in the world. Yes we are going to have it for the rest of our lives. I would rather be taking care of myself then telling myself I am going to die. Yes we all have our up and downs don't get me wrong about that. We have to take each day at a time. We all have to be in this together. I have diabetic friends who I keep in contact we tell each support each other. It how we get threw life. If anybody would like to talk to me. Just hit me up on Facebook. Brian King

I hate it too and when I get a high number I get very mad at myself and when it's to low I hate that feeling more.

My name Gina I am 43 years old I was diagnosed September 2001 and I hate it too and sometimes I forget my insulin and pills and I am a very very picky eater if I don't like it I won't eat it that goes for most veggies

kendraferg 01-09-2014 04:36 AM

Your not alone.

I'm 17 years old. I got diagnosed with diabetes when I was 8. I've had it for about 9 years now. The last couple if months I haven't been doing what I need to. I'll bolus for what I eat but I won't check my blood sugar. Which is why I got this app. And I like to see that I'm not the only one who thinks that this sucks. I hate having to stop why I'm doing and check my blood sugar. And I hate carrying my meter around with me. Like when I go to the store or I'm out with friends I'll just leave my meter in the car. And I'm finally realizing that if I continue down this road. That I will lose a leg or an arm. I'll have to do dialysis cause my kidneys won't work. Or I can be blind. I have realized that I need to do what is right so I can live past 25.

I understand how you feel and trust me I looked up stuff like crazy and there is nothing in the United States to make it go away. There is however a rumor that Canada has a cure, there is a problem though. Getting the cure in Canada and coming back to the U.S, the insurance companies won't provide care for you, for anything. So unless you feel like relocating that isn't an option. I thought about doing this but I am engaged to be married and I would miss my family too much if I moved to Canada.

PhilVa 01-22-2014 12:48 AM

I've had Type1 for almost 45 years. We could have much worse diseases, take your time, and do the best you can. I highly recommend investing in a pump. It is the closest you can get to being "normal". Testing has gotten a lot better than it used to be, and the lancets are much finer. Keep trying and test as often as possible.

I am sorry but Canada does not have a magical cure. I live here and if we had it my life would be a whole lot better. Heck i even live in the city where Insulin was invented and I still have no cure.

foofoo 05-25-2014 05:35 PM

I have been a diabetic for 34 years and I still hate everything about it. I just can't come to terms with it.

WilliamVacharasin 07-09-2014 11:44 PM

I've had this disease 13 years. It sucks, my life depends on a vile and shot. We all hate it and live with it so, let's carry on with the life we got.

Generally diabetes supplies are prescribed by a doctor and you pick them up at your local pharmacy. However, in an emergency situation, you can buy the insulin at a pharmacy without a prescription. You just need to prove that you have diabetes and that you need the insulin, but you won't be able to buy the syringes / needles without a prescription.

Howard,

I am sorry to hear about your recent problems. Yes, diabetes is tough to stay on top of, but we all must do everything in our power to keep it under control. Good luck with your future control and management, test often. I wish you the best!

kelseyann 10-11-2014 06:40 PM

I've been a diabetic since I was4 and I hate it to, but the only way to live is inject itself and test ur blood glucose and honestly I only use the three middle fingers on my left hand and i don't feel it any more remember that there are worse diseases out there that u could have got in instead of diabetes
