A lot of people here use Victoza.

jgreiner 01-21-2013 11:10 AM

It made me so sick I had to stop taking it.

I am on Victoza and it has brought my numbers down. I was in the mid 200 all the time and now I am right around 130

wilamai 01-23-2013 03:16 PM

Yes, I take it. I've been on it since Nov 2011. So sick with it, but most symptoms did finally subside after 6 months. Numbers were better so didn't want to give up. But am starting now to worry about other side effects they are constantly warning me about in the pamphlets they give when renewing prescription. Does anyone have opinions, observations?

I have been using Victoza since Jan 2012. No issues, has really brought my numbers down. Obviously depends on your carb intake but I am running around 130 average.

My doctor just started me on Victoza today. I have only been on oral meds so injecting is something new for me. Did my first injection and was surprised how easy it was. Just hope now that I will be able to tolerate it.

Using the Vic...

If you are on certaineds they may interact.
My wife was on it and Wellbutrin and caused the nausea and low blood sugar under 50-20. Almost killed her multiple times until her doctors coordinated and spotted the issue

Make sure all your prescriptions can be filled from the same pharmacy so their software can spot these issues (she used Walmart and cvs, now she only uses one)
Now everything works great. So good luck!

I used it almost two years.. Since I started to take insulin my dr didn't prescribed me with victoza.. Even thought I asked her to...

I have been on Victoza for awhile. I had some gastrointestinal problems, they were mild so I stuck it out. It's a great medicine and works great and really helped my numbers out. I can not miss a dose or I am very sick when I take it again. I had the flu and missed 3 doses of, started back on a lower dose and had more problems this time around. I didn't want to give up so my doctor had me start on 5 clicks and up my dose little by little every week. It has worked out great but can't get above 0.6 right now, the dose I need is 1.2. Getting very frustrated withe bloating and nausea

Regarding needle use. Is it necessary to use a new needle everyday?

Yes, the same with finger prick needles as well.

I was put on Victoza 03/20/13 and started with the 0.06 dose on 03/21/13. A few days into it I saw one of those "are you using this medication" lawyers commercial on TV. It was enough for me to question it and I stopped taking it.

Victoza & Glyburide

Is anyone using both Victoza and Glyburide? What's your experience?

tlhorne 04-09-2013 02:27 AM

From what I've read this drug (victoza) is not suppose to be used as a main drug but a drug to work along side a main drug lik Metformin or Janumet. I've also read it causes cancer. I'm not any type of doctor, just did a search out of curiosity on the net for what it's worth.

I've been Victoza since Sept 2012 and its worked well for me. I was fine the first week at the lowest dose but had problems when I upped the dose to 1.2. So I went back to the .6 for a week. I've had no problems since then and have lost ~20 lbs. My last two A1Cs have been 6.2 and 6.3, down from 7.5. I also take 2mg of glimepiride and 32u of Lantus every day. I was on 2000 mg of Metformin daily but it didn't work for me.

pamusc93 04-15-2013 02:43 AM

I've been using Victoza for about two years and it is the only thing that works to keep my blood sugars down. I'm also on 1000mg of Metformin, 30u of Lantus and 15u of Humalog a day. I'm hoping to get off of the Humalog soon.

Victoza problem

My endo prescribed Victoza. It increased my resting heart rate by 20-30 beats. My cardio ordered me off.
