Most frustrating thing ever

I would say that the most frustrating thing ever is having friends and family say, "Are you sure you can eat that?!?"

I would say that the most frustrating thing is having your Mother tell you that she made this desert for you and it is not tooooooo sweeeeeet!

Yeah, I get this one a lot to Matt. In my two year T1 career I've learned to just let ignorance pass me by the best I can, lol

I had a few instances of this kind of family pushing, which sparked my most recent blog post: sugar free propaganda

krycomics 04-26-2010 09:49 PM

Lmfao! I get that at least once a day! It does get on my nerves unfortunately... Wish people would just trust my judgement after 10 years of being a T1...

minto2k 05-01-2010 08:58 AM

Totally agree. Get that loads too. But I also get, "is your Diabetes mild or severe?" !!! This kills me! (not literally obviously) but people actually think that there are different levels of severity... This question always comes up when I am looking for car insurance. :(

I hate paying over the odds for my car insurance. Grrrrr!!!!

My store manager keeps asking me if I can eat this or that. It is annoying at best. The ironic thing is that he asks me that after he comes back from smoking his cigarettes. Maybe I need to ask him if he really needs to smoke.

I just tell them what the Doctor says.. " You can eat whatever you want, just as long as you take the fast acting insuline to cover it" :)
besides too much sugar free stuff leads to hmmm how should I say tons of bathroom pit stops  lol

Oh i forgot

What i hear a lot is when im at work and theres a run to the supermarket for doghnuts, cookies, carmael slices etc etc. They hand them round, get to me, and say, "oh, i forgot you were diabetic, can you have these? Ill get you something next time". It never happens!!!
The most annoying thing for me is when someone says, "oh your diabetic, does that mean you need to eat sugar all the time." Thats the next 30 minutes gone explaining about diabetes.

notafraid1021 09-17-2010 11:43 PM

Omg I feel the same!

You are so right! I hate it when my friends say "I made some brownies, can you eat them?" And i just look at them with my irritated look and tell them yes I can thats why i have the sutpid pump(im not a fan of the medtronic pump) :o. It just makes me mad that I even told them what I have in the first place.

I actually work in a chocolate shop, had T1 for nearly 20 years. And customers always come in and say "it must be so hard to resist!" and I'm like, "no, I don't eat chocolate, I have diabetes" they think it's hilarious, I'm saving the company money by not eating the profits like everyone else! And my manager used to always ask me if I had tried this or that product, if I had leftovers after packing she would tell me I could eat it & I have to remind her I can't eat chocolate every day!

Absolutely one of the most annoying things is the 'can you eat that?' thing, topped only by 'are you the type who has too much sugar or not enough?' arrested both

samandjen 01-27-2011 11:10 PM

The most frustrating thing to me is people always asking me, "can you eat thin?"

mfball50 02-23-2011 04:37 AM

I absolutly hate when people ask if I can "eat that". I just wish everyone knew a little more about diabetes

tracker 02-27-2011 04:40 PM

They dont realize that sugar free foods have more carbs so basically it is the same thing! Ugh i get that all the time!
