I am extremely fearful of bs getting too low when I'm sleeping. I've had type 1 DM for 18 yrs & have had bad things happen a few times during the night. As much as you're fearful of lows you should be just as fearful of a high bs. I don't eat 2-4 hrs before bed so there aren't any carbs trying to digest during my sleep allowing a constant bs through the night. I check an hr before bed. If bs is good & i haven't eaten I go to bed. The troubles come when there's carbs digesting and too little or too much insulin. If my bs is 180 or 200 before bed I take 1 un of fast acting and I usually wake up and I'm fine.

Being high is just as bad also if you eat meat and sugar it can store sugar in your liver and in a emergency it will get you up a little or at least it works for me

I can be at 35-45 without panicking. Train yourself to stay calm when you're really low. Have sugar next to you and push your limits.

I am scared of low blood sugar at night as well. I live by myself, so I am afraid that I will have a diabetes coma when my blood sugar goes really low and nobody knows it. Are there any device to monitor sugar level at night when we are asleep, and it will beep if the sugar level goes too low? Thanks!

Take a look at the Dexcom G4 Continuous Glucose Monitor (CGM).
