First thing I would ask is what time are you eating dinner and are you eating the right type of food and portions to avoid high blood sugar in general. This is where I would start and assuming you are eating the right food and portion sizes to avoid high blood sugar then I would start looking at the amount of your medications as they may need to be increased by your doctor and then there's your weight which plays a big factor. One of the best ways to control your diabetes is to maintain the proper weight if you. I am 229 lb and should be 180 lbs, which I was until I became a diabetic. My insulin made me gain weight which I am now losing because as of this week I am 222 lbs. I take 2 tabs of 500 mg metformin every morning with 15 milligrams of Lantus insulin and when I was first diagnosed in Aug of 2011 I was doing 3 milligrams of Apidra fast acting insulin before each meal for a total of 4 insulin injections a day. That went on for the first 8 months I was a diabetic. I no longer have to inject myself with the Apidra before each meal. So I have improved my condition by controlling the type and amount of food I eat and I am now working on weight. So I hope this post helps in some way ....
