I also agree that it is long hours and hard work to perfect this app and to make it the very good app that it is today, except that i would like A1C catagory put in to my information on the mobile app, hahahah, However its not that there is advertisement now in the app, its the way it was put there without any notice as to the fact that it might be put there and given the opportunity to tell the developer that we would love an opt out payment . I already pay for the preimum blood pressure and weight, and would even pay more for getting rid of the ad's especially if it would help the developer also. I want this app to continue to grow and be even better in the future and i will pay for that privledge, however something as important as advertisements would be very nice to have fore warning about. Thats just me...:D.....And as far as ignore the ad's....I have accidently hit it twice now, with my finger holding the bottom of the phone, and have opened the browser and it causes quite a delay and frustraition. So that is my answer to those who say just ignore it.

You do realize that the dev doesnt get to pick the ads that are displayed right? If a tiny McRib ad makes you run off and binge on junk food you have bigger problems than an ad showing up in a free app. The fact that you paid for the "premium" additional features is irrelevant. It is not a premium version, you paid for the wt and bp tracking features. If they add a remove the ads premium feature this should be a separate charge just like if they add any other feature, that way you can pick and choose what you want to use.

I'm with the no-ads people. I don't like them at all (the ads, that is) and find them irritating, to say the least. If the developer wants to make some money (and I have no problem with that) then why not have a free version with ads for people that don't mind them and a paid version that's ad-free?

I'd be happy to pay, but PLEASE spare me the commercial whoopla every time I record a BG reading. I wouldn't, on principle, succumb to the advertisers' blandishments anyway.

As for Dano's plaintive appeal to "...see some of those positive posts": sorry, mate; people sometimes have views that aren't palatable.

Once again the point is missed it is NOT a game or SEARCH tool or BUSINESS app it is an app to help manage diabetes...And yes it does matter WHAT ads play ..With your train of thought then, it would be ok for the AA website to use ads to fund there cost even if those ads had miller beer or jack ads running ..The ads under mine the point or process your tring to acheive.

An app you use for FREE because like i said if you paid for the premium features thats ALL you paid for, the ability to track your WT and BP. The Dev has already said there will probably be more paid add ons in the future, I'd imagine removing the adds will be one of them.

Your analogy fails. I've been a diabetic for close to 30 years, guess what. It's OK to go to McDonalds or burger king or wendy's etc etc etc. It is up to YOU to make smart choices when you go.

I came to the forum for the first time within 30 seconds of seeing my first ad on GB.

I do understand why ads are there, but I hate them. I almost always invest in no-ad version of an app, if it is available. I sure would for GB, if the price is right.

I don't care what you post in this thread. Vent all you want. I would just like for all of you to remember that this is a Diabetes Forum, and spending some of your energy posting in other threads might actually be helpful to others. This is especially true for those that have never posted in another thread, save this one.

I haven't seen any of these adds yet since upgrading to 3.5, but that's because I'm using it 'offline' at the moment. Until I see how invasive these adds are I can't really comment on them specifically, but my general opinion on ads in free apps is as follows:

• I hate full page invasive ads that force you to look at them until the 5-10seconds ticks down.
• Small ads which help generate some income for the developers is fine with me, but also having a paid upgrade to an add-free version is a must. Bringing out an ad version with no option to have them removed is just plain asking for backlash.
• Ads should ALWAYS be relevant to the app that people are using. Having random ads for everything from A-Z of junk is unhelpful IMO. I've seen from reading this that McDonalds pops up. To me having fast food ads on an app created to help you manage and improve your Bg levels is a prime example of an ad should not be on there. Who needs more advertising for McDonalds? I mean seriously! Like there's anyone that needs more McDonalds advertising in their lives. I understand that the developers don't decide which ads show and which don't, but IMO they should use a way to do ads on their app that don't include irrelevant ads that would actually discourage people from using the app.
• Just think of the RELEVANT ads/products that could appear on this app. The list is endless and could actually help people using Glucose Buddy. I know this would be a lot more work than just using generic ads, but IMO would be worth it.

Criticism of my opinions is fine, but please no flaming ;)

I havent seen any mcdonalds ads either, I see at&t adds and geicko adds mostly. they are VERY unintrusive and only show on the main screen where your icons are. They dont show up in the add logs screen, view logs etc.
for size comparison, the add strip is at the bottom and it is about the same size as the grey strip across the top that says Glucose buddy on it.
